A leaked screenshot on Gizmochina appears to confirm that an MIUI software build based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow is in the works, although it doesn't say when the rollout will begin. The Marshmallow update has also started seeding to the company's Mi 4 flagship smartphone.As you can see in the screenshot above, the device is directly being updated to Android Marshmallow version 6.0.1, compared to the Mi Note which is supposed to get Android 6.0. The update, which bumps the build number to MMB29M, reportedly weighs in at around 100 MB.

In case you aren't already aware, the phone was launched back in 2014 running Android 4.4.3 (KitKat) out-of-the-box. It received Android 5.1.1-based MIUI 7 update last October and the MIUI 7.1 update this month. A Xiaomi executive confirmed last month that the device, along with the Mi Note, will get the Marshmallow update soon.

As for what’s new, Xiaomi has posted a short rundown of all the features packed into the Mi 4’s Marshmallow update. The immersive status bar now has global support for all apps, the file management UI has been simplified, and there are new controls for the type of USB connection mode you want when you connect up to your PC.

The camera app has also had some tweaks made to it. Pictures and videos now save a little faster and there have been some tweaks to color reproduction. The phone also now apparently doesn’t heat up as much when charging and there have been some optimizations to battery life too. Other than that, the main software features remain the same as those mentioned at the launch of MIUI 7 and 7.1.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its devices, but Xiaomi, which earned a global name with its budget phones, seems to be set to release the software to its devices.The Chinese smartphone-maker has completed Android 6.0 Marshmallow beta testing for Xiaomi Mi Note, and it will be rolled out to the device on Friday, 22 January, according to My Drivers (via GizChina). 

The report went on to say the Developer Edition of Xiaomi Mi Note has already got the Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based MIUI 7 update, and it's not known if it is the final one or a development ROM.

It was earlier reported that Xiaomi had started beta-testing the software for its devices like Mi 3, Mi 4 and Mi Note, but there was no follow-up on it, leaving Xiaomi handset-owners confused.

Xiaomi is expected to release the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to devices like Xiaomi Mi3, Xiaomi Mi4, Xiaomi Mi4i, Xiaomi Mi4c, Xiaomi Note 2, Xiaomi Note 2 Prime, Xiaomi Mi Note Pro and Xiaomi Mi Note.
